Clémentine Adou (b. 1988, Paris, France) lives and works in Paris. Adou’s work is characterized by an economy of production and means, using processes of subtraction and recovery that incorporate everyday objects and materials. Contemporary conditions are diffused throughout her work through spatial and contextual forms that foreground processes of visibility and constraint.
Solo and duo exhibitions include Spare Room, Paris (with Wojciech Bąkowski, 2026); Tunnel Tunnel, Lausanne (2025); Les Bains-Douches, Alençon (2024); Tonus, Paris (2023); DOC, Paris (with Julien Monnerie, 2021); Palette Terre, Paris (2020); and 76,4, Brussels (2019).
Her work has been shown in group exhibitions such as Lodovico Corsini, Brussels, Belgium (2026); Lo Brutto Stahl, Basel (2026); Kunstverein Kevin, Vienna, Austria (2026); Café des Glaces, Tonnerre (2026); Derosia, New York (2025); Bel Ami, Los Angeles (2025, 2020); Lo Brutto Stahl, Basel (2025); Kunstverein Freiburg, Freiburg (2025); Super Super Markt, Berlin (2025); Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris (2024); Balice Hertling, Paris (2024); Lagune Ouest, Copenhagen (2024); La Salle de Bains, Lyon (2023); Treize, Paris (2023); Florence Loewy, Paris (2022); Shivers Only, Paris (2021); High Art, Paris (2020).
She was one of the recipients of the 25th Fondation Pernod Ricard Prize in 2024. Her work is held in permanent collections including Centre Pompidou; FRAC Île-de-France; CNAP; and FRAC Corse.
